I had a large Illustration project last year Illustrating an interactive Jigsaw puzzle game called “The Adventures of Wolf and Hood” for Stone Baked Games. It was a wonderful project to work on and I’ll be updating my portfolio with more images soon. There is more information about the project as well as screenshots on the developers website.
I worked on 20 hand painted digital Illustrations for the game, a map for the title screen and achievement icons. The Illustrations also have subtle animations which the game developer Tim Waskett cleverly incorporated with the layered artwork I provided.
In other news I’ve been keeping busy since last December by working on personal projects and learning more 3D skills. I bought ZBrush last year and started learning it by watching a beginners course on Udemy called “Sculpting in ZBrush” by instructor Milivoj Popovic.
I am enjoying the process and the course is really good. I’ll try some more courses after and keep practicing. I am finding it helps to learn by making mini projects for myself. It is difficult sometimes but I love the challenge. Here are some of the things I’ve done so far:
Next I’m working on a series of Illustrations for this website. My plan is to Illustrate all the existing articles and use the assets for future articles and other Illustrated projects I want to work on.
I’m making a new squirrel mascot in 3D and props for the Illustrations. I thought it would be a good way to keep practicing digital sculpting as well as developing my Illustration portfolio and keeping busy in lock down.
I have been posting work in progress updates for my art using Twitter but I’m thinking of setting up another mini blog for that due to the generally toxic nature of the place. I haven’t had too much trouble with it until fairly recently. I expect it is due to more bored and frustrated people in lock down.
Perhaps I’ll have a Patreon type system instead so we can avoid the unwanted distractions and drama and it will help keep me motivated.
